A journey through my last year as a twenty-something

Wanchai Ferry Giveaway

I'm not a gourmet cook. I leave that up to my husband who can cook circles around me. I don't have the patience for cooking. I never think about making dinner ahead of time or having it ready by a certain time each night. Nine times out of ten I don't even think about dinner until my stomach is growling. By then the last thing I want is to spend hours slaving over the stove top trying to come up with something edible.

I'm working on becoming a better cook. (adding this to my goals list) I've got enough recipes in my collection to never have the same thing twice, but until I get around to actually trying them I will have to depend on my husband for the most part, Of course, he doesn't want to cook dinner every night either. When it's my turn to cook I usually turn to one of the few dishes I have perfected or one of those wonderful meals in a box that you can find in any grocery store. You know the ones I am talking about, right? All you need is water and a skillet, even I can do that. After a while that can get old though. I can only eat Asian Style Fried Rice or Pizza Pasta Bake so many times before I want something different.

Recently I was given the opportunity to try out a new line of frozen dinners and I have to admit that I was impressed by the quality of the product. Wanchai Ferry offers a frozen meal that can go from your freezer to the table in under 15 minutes. Now that's my kind of meal. Wanchai Ferry meals are the perfect sized meals for two which are perfect for my husband and I. They are a little pricier than some of the other prepackaged meals you might find in the store but the quality is excellent. I was given the opportunity to try the Orange Chicken variety and found it not only to be very easy to make but it was extremely flavorful. Couple it with a salad and you will have a great meal for two to enjoy. I have also tried another of the five varieties, the Sweet and Sour Chicken. It too was very flavorful and had the perfect combination of tangyness and sweetness that I love. All and all I was very satisfied with the product.

Spicy Garlic Chicken

Wanchai Ferry meals can be found in your grocer's freezer and cost between $6 and $8 depending on where you shop. FYI you will need a microwave to cook the rice but if you don't have one (mine is still in a box somewhere b/c we recently moved) you can toss the rice into a small pan of water and cook it for a couple of minutes.

What's Up For Grabs?

Wanchai Ferry and My Blog Spark have teamed up to provide one (1) of my readers with this awesome prize pack which includes the following: Check out the photo

2 coupons for a free Wanchai Ferry frozen dinner – yes that's right FREE
2 Asian inspired rice bowls - I love these bowls!

Win A One Day Pass to Sam's Club or a $25 Gift Card

This blog was supposed to act as my daily diary as I experienced my last year as a twenty-something. It hasn't quite gone the way I planned but I'm hoping to get it up and running again. I thought to get the ball rolling again I'd offer up a few great giveaways for my readers. Today's giveaway is one that I am very excited about.

I'm a huge fan of Sam's Club. I don't make it there often because I didn't have a membership (until recently) but when I did get the chance to go with a friend I'd jump on it. Sam's club has awesome prices on bulk items. Maybe you think that bulk items aren't really worth it because, “there's no way in hell I'd ever use that much of anything.” You'd be surprised though how nice it is not to have to go to the grocery store or Wal-Mart every week to pick up the essentials. Sure a membership for a year to Sam's Club is going to cost you about $40 for a year but when you think about the savings it's worth it.

Sam's Club and Box Tops for Education are teaming up to offer added points on all your Box Top favorites. The Big Clip program will give those who purchase and clip the Box Tops for Education logo on their favorite foods more points that their schools can used for cool stuff. Brands taking part in The Big Clip include: Cheerios, Ziploc Containers, Ziploc Sandwich Bags, Honey Nut Cheerios. Pillsbury Chocolate Chip Cookies, Fiber One Oats and Chocolate Bars, Nature Valley Bars, Scott Paper Towels, Huggies Baby Wipes, and Kleenex Facial Tissues. The program runs from August 15th through September 4th at all Sam's Club locations.

What's In It For You?

Sam's Club and Box Tops for Education have graciously provided me with five (5) one day passes to Sam's Club and one (1) $25 Sam's Club Gift Card to giveaway as part of the promotion. Now you too can take advantage of the great prices and the added Box Tops for Education points.

Betty Crocker: The Mixer Giveaway!

If my husband and I were forced to survive based on my culinary skills we might have a problem. Chances are we would eat the same five dishes that I have managed to perfect over and over again. Luckily I have a husband that can turn anything into a great dinner. Still, it never hurts to have a little guidance along the way. That’s where Betty Crocker comes in.

We all know Betty Crocker for their foods and cookbooks but recently they launched a brand new service for those wanting to learn more about cooking.

The Mixer is an online cooking class designed to help those in need of a few more culinary skills. Each week the Betty Crocker Kitchen Experts host three online sessions. During these sessions which occur for six weeks you can learn about everything from making tortillas to stir fry to chicken. The best part of the whole experience is that it’s completely free! All you have to do is sign up to get in on the action.

Off Topic: Giveaway (Yoplait Kids)

If this is your first time here thanks for stopping by. Hope you come back again!

I was recently given a chance by My Blog Spark to try a great product. Yoplait Kids is designed with children in mind. The problem is we don't have children, at least not any without four legs. Of course that doesn't mean we didn't enjoy trying the product ourselves. I've always been a big fan of yogurt and this product didn't let me down.

In addition to receiving a coupon for free Yoplait Kids the gift pack included some great toys for kids to play with in the yard. Since I doubt my husband and I will be in the yard playing with them anytime soon they will be heading to my in laws house for use in the summer by my neice and nephews. I can't wait to see if they like them.

I am exited to offer the first of many giveaways that will be hosted here on The Death of My Twenties.

Here's what you get:

Three (3) lucky winners will receive a Yoplait Kids gift pack including the following items (check out the picture above):

You will receive a coupon for any of the Yoplait for Kids yogurt products (Go-Gurt, Trix, Yoplait Kids) along with a Yoplait Get Active Prize Pack which includes a travel cooler (to take your yogurt on the road), a jump rope, a water bottle and an outdoor game set that includes a beach ball, paddle ball, Jai-Ali and a Frisbee.

This giveaway will be active until 11:59PM Eastern on Saturday April 11, 2009. Winners will be chosen using Random.org and all winners will be notified by email shortly after being chosen. Winners will be given 48 hours to respond with their address.

Make sure to leave an email address in your comments so I can contact the winners

To enter: Visit Yoplait and tell me which product you would like to try.
