A journey through my last year as a twenty-something

Who Rules the House?

When I was growing up I had dogs but they were never really part of the family and were never ever allowed in the house. I was never allowed to have a cat because both of my parents hated them. I did have a horse when I was in high school but he was more of a 4-H project than a pet...plus he lived at my grandparents house.

Meet Boone: A Black Lab/Golden Retriever Mix Who Has Been With Us Since Day 1

You might think she is just an ordinary dog but Boone has been a part of the family since the week my husband and I moved in together 6 1/2 years ago. She was just a puppy then and even tough I wanted a chocolate lab I was more than happy to check out the puppies advertised at the corner market. From the moment I saw her she stole my heart. Even though she was the runt of the litter and her little belly was full of icky worms I knew she was coming home with us. She's her daddy's favorite and rules the house. She makes the big decisions, lives for apples, and knows that a trip to taco bell means she's getting a taco of her own.

I'm not sure exactly what telling you about my dog has to do with The Death of My Twenties but no one in the world makes me feel better than she does when I'm having a bad day. Great, now the other dogs are getting jealous because I haven't mentioned them yet.
